Dayanita Singh Exhibition at Venice State Archive Explores Photography's Third Space

Indian artist Dayanita Singh will present a major exhibition at the State Archive of Venice from April 16 to July 31, 2026. The show features works from her last 25 years, highlighting her conceptual approach that blends photography with publishing to create what she calls a 'third space' between gallery and book formats. Singh, born in New Delhi in 1961, transitioned from photojournalism to artistic practice, collaborating with publishers like Gerhard Steidl on experimental projects such as 'The Museum of Chance' (2013) and 'Sent a Letter' (2007). The exhibition will later travel to institutions including Rome's National Etruscan Museum at Villa Giulia, Turin's Museum of Oriental Art, and conclude at the Italian Cultural Institute in New Delhi.
