Dave Krugman's 'WINDOWS' Series Captures NYC Nightlife Through Illuminated Portals

Brooklyn-based photographer Dave Krugman has compiled a five-year photographic series titled 'WINDOWS,' capturing illuminated windows across New York City at night. The project documents the light, shadow, and objects visible through these portals—such as cat beds, curtains, and holiday decorations—to create a composite portrait of the city. Krugman arranges the images into randomized grids, emphasizing the concept of 'sonder,' the awareness of others' complex lives. He states the work reflects how similarities overpower differences and how isolation is overcome by community. Krugman plans a two-phase release: a digital art sale with Transient Labs and a physical print sale, with updates via his newsletter. He is also founder of ALLSHIPS, a culture company for artists.
