Dash Crofts of Soft Rock Duo Seals & Crofts Dies at Age 87

Dash Crofts, one half of the 1970s soft rock duo Seals & Crofts, passed away on Wednesday in Austin, Texas at 87 years old. His daughter confirmed heart failure as the cause. Crofts and his musical partner Jim Seals, who died in 2022, were known for hits like "Summer Breeze," "Diamond Girl," and "Get Closer," which helped define the era's mellow sound. Their 1972 single "Summer Breeze" reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has been streamed over 320 million times on Spotify. The duo, originally from Texas, began their career in the late 1960s and were associated with the Baha'i faith. They disbanded around 1980 but later reunited for performances and released an album in 2004.
