Daniele Sigalot's Mirror Map of Rome Turns Visitors into Art at Italian Parliament

On September 8, 2026, Daniele Sigalot's exhibition titled 'Un ritratto di chiunque a Roma' will debut at the Complesso di Vicolo Valdina, Camera dei Deputati in Rome. Curated by Guicciardo Sassoli de' Bianchi, the showcase includes a 2.5-meter mirror-polished steel map of Rome, which reflects the fragmented identities of its visitors. Sigalot emphasizes, "For once, it is not Rome that is portrayed, but Rome that portrays the viewer." This exhibition builds on his 2021 project 'Un ritratto di chiunque, ovunque,' focusing on geography and human presence. Additionally, fourteen two-meter banners featuring portraits will be displayed in the cloister, and new portraits will be created during the opening. The exhibition also ties into early 20th-century Italian culture and runs alongside 'Please Take This Seriously' in Florence until November.
