Dan Concholar's First Solo Exhibition at Parrasch Heijnen Features 1969-1982 Works

Parrasch Heijnen presents Dan Concholar: L.A. Times, marking the gallery's inaugural solo exhibition of the artist's work. The show includes a curated selection of paintings and works on paper created between 1969 and 1982. Born in 1939 in San Antonio, Texas, Concholar passed away in 2017 in Grass Valley, California. His artistic practice was initially shaped by Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism. Working in series, he investigated abstract yet bodily forms using acrylic, collage, ink, pastel, and graphite. Concholar's early life saw him born on a ranch, spending his childhood in Phoenix, Arizona before relocating to Los Angeles in 1955. By the mid-1960s, he was actively involved with LA's Brockman Gallery community. He exhibited at Brockman Gallery, Ankrum Gallery, and Gallery 32. Recently, his work was included in the exhibition Suzanne Jackson: What Is Love at SFMOMA.
