Dame Mary Berry releases first gardening book at 91
At 91, Dame Mary Berry has released her debut gardening book titled 'My Gardening Life' and was honored with a Bafta fellowship in May. During the Hay Festival, she engaged in a conversation with Mel Giedroyc, sharing memories of her childhood in Bath during the war, where she cultivated radishes and lettuce. Afterward, she tended to gardens in Notting Hill and later in Penn, Buckinghamshire, where her 3.5-acre garden became part of the National Garden Scheme. Currently residing in Henley-on-Thames, she grows red onions, lettuce, and carrots, drawing design inspiration from Alan Titchmarsh. She has no intention of retiring.
