D'Après2 Exhibition in San Severino Marche: Six Artists Dialogue with Their Past

The second edition of D'Après2, curated by Antonio Mercuri, opened in San Severino Marche under the patronage of the municipality and the Consulate General of Peru. The exhibition features six artists—Alberto Cespi, Adriano Crocenzi, Paolo Gobbi, Sandro Pierucci, Shura Oyarce Yuzzelli, and Andrew Smith—who present recent works alongside historical pieces, engaging in a self-reflective dialogue. The concept of 'd'après' (French for 'after') encourages artists to reinterpret their own past rather than merely copy it. Cespi offers abstract-informal landscapes through engraving; Crocenzi experiments with polychrome canvases, scrap sculptures, and jewelry; Gobbi and Oyarce Yuzzelli explore temporal links between past and present—Gobbi through layered cardboard assemblages referencing his 1980s work, Oyarce Yuzzelli integrating Peruvian textile art with chromatic nuances. Pierucci reduces canvas sizes to homage Homer's Iliad with acrylics and sanguine; Smith carves stone directly, alternating rough and smooth surfaces. The exhibition runs until August 2, with opening hours Thursday–Friday 4:30–7:30 PM and Saturday–Sunday 10:30 AM–12:30 PM and 4:30–7:30 PM.
