Cynthia Merhej's Renaissance Renaissance Celebrates 10 Years with DECADE Zine
Cynthia Merhej, Palestinian-Lebanese designer of Paris-Beirut label Renaissance Renaissance, marks a decade with DECADE, a limited edition fan-zine launching June 23 at Cahier Centrale in Paris. The zine features three shoots by photographers George Eyres, Alessandro Raimondo, and Alice Mann, styled by Claudia Sinclair. Merhej, the first Arab woman named an LVMH Prize semi-finalist (2021, 2025), draws on a family legacy: great-grandmother Laurice Srouji was a couturier in Jaffa; mother Laura launched her own label during the Lebanon War. Her designs have been worn by Rama Duwaji, Dua Lipa, and Chloë Sevigny. The zine reflects her commitment to physical media amid Lebanon's fragile cultural heritage, inspired by artists Akram Zaatari, Walid Raad, and Lamia Joreige. Merhej plans to expand into film and restructure the brand for broader creative direction.
