Cyanotype Workshop with Paola Dávila at Casa de México

Artist Paola Dávila will lead a cyanotype workshop at Casa de México in Madrid, tied to the exhibition "Espectros, enigmas de la mirada." Participants will learn the historical photographic process discovered by John Herschel in 1842, which uses iron-based Prussian blue pigment. The workshop covers solution preparation, negative creation, exposure control, and natural toning. No prior photography knowledge is required. Sessions run June 29, July 1, 6, and 8, 2026, from 5 to 7 PM. Fee is 80 euros, including materials. Registration is via the Casa de México website. The technique was popularized by Anna Atkins, who published the first photo-illustrated book, "British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions," in 1843.
