CXMT Unveils G5 DRAM Platform, Narrows Gap With Samsung and SK Hynix

ai-technology · 2026-09-20

On Sunday, Changxin Memory Technologies (CXMT) revealed that its fifth-generation technology platform, G5, has commenced mass production. The Chinese memory chip manufacturer highlighted that this platform achieves a significant increase in storage density, with the number of dies per wafer rising by at least 50 percent compared to its predecessor, alongside enhancements in energy efficiency and cost management. CXMT's G5 process reaches an 11.95-nanometre level utilizing "quadruple exposure" technology, placing it among the most advanced mass production memory platforms globally. This contrasts with the 10-nanometre technology employed by leading firms Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix from South Korea. Additionally, CXMT introduced two LPDDR5X products, each with a capacity of 24 gigabits, reflecting a 50 percent improvement over earlier models.
