CXMT's $4.3B IPO: Soaring profits, US export threat, and HBM race

ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) is preparing for a 29.5 billion yuan ($4.3 billion) IPO on Shanghai's Star Market. The Hefei-based DRAM maker has seen a massive profit surge due to AI-driven memory demand, with Q1 revenue up 719% year-on-year to a net profit of 33 billion yuan, swinging from a loss. Its DDR5 server memory is now being ordered by Tencent and ByteDance after customer validation. Other clients include Alibaba Cloud, Lenovo, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Transsion, and Honor. Apple is reportedly lobbying Washington for clearance to buy CXMT memory amid rising international component costs. The company's average selling prices are within 5-10% of global leaders Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. The IPO's success hinges on whether CXMT can sustain its cyclical windfall into permanent leadership amid US export threats and the high-stakes HBM race.
