Cori Hornbæk Hotel Revives Danish Modernist Landmark on Zealand Coast

The Cori Hornbæk hotel, set to open summer 2025 on the Danish Riviera, restores a 1935 Ole Falkentorp seaside hotel that had fallen into disrepair after WWII. Developer Copi acquired the building at auction in 2022 and led the revival. NVMBR Architects and AART handled architectural updates, while London studio Afroditi took creative lead. Landscape architects Effekt integrated the oval tower building into its low-rise context. Gubi collaborated on bespoke furniture for the 77 rooms and five townhouses. The hotel includes a bar, a restaurant by chef Brian Mark Hansen (formerly of Michelin-starred Søllerød Kro), and a spa, all open to locals. Afroditi founder Afroditi Krassa emphasized avoiding clichés like baby blue stripes, aiming for a natural, earthy, luminous resort feel. Copi founder Jesper Brunander cited a personal connection to Hornbæk and a passion for heritage restoration. The project revives the building's original glamour and international artistic crowd appeal for the 21st century.
