COR Architecture + Design Revitalizes Balsapintada Cultural Center with Sustainable Renovation
In August 2025, the renovation of the Casa de Cultura de Balsapintada was completed by COR Architecture + Design, under the direction of Miguel Rodenas and Jesús Olivares. This cultural center, located in Fuente Álamo de Murcia, Spain, spans 724.05 m2 and showcases a façade made of greenish-blue and red perforated metal sheets. Emphasizing adaptive reuse, the project improved thermal performance and reconfigured interior spaces with flexible partitions and digital systems, meeting NZEB standards. Supported by the EU's NextGenerationEU initiative, it adheres to the principles of the European New Bauhaus. The building's strategic location enhances its function as a social hub, complemented by shaded outdoor areas. Construction was managed by INFRAESTRUCTURAS Y FERROCARRILES, S.L., with Milena Villalba capturing the transformation through photography.
