Cooper Hewitt Showcases Interactive Data-Driven Fonts in Design Exhibition

Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum is presenting an interactive display of two recently acquired digital fonts as part of its exhibition 'Acquired! Shaping the National Design Collection.' The fonts, Climate Crisis and Ugly Gerry, are open-source works that function as data visualizations addressing climate change and political gerrymandering. Designed by Daniel Coull and Eino Korkala (Climate Crisis) and Ben Doessel and James Lee (Ugly Gerry), these typefaces are displayed on a touch-screen kiosk developed by the museum's Digital and Emerging Media team. The exhibition highlights contemporary approaches to collecting and presenting digital design, with the fonts available for public download. The show runs through August 25, 2024.
