Consonni Radziszewski Gallery Opens Milan Space, Uniting Lisbon and Warsaw Galleries

The Consonni Radziszewski gallery project has launched a new exhibition venue in Milan, representing a collaboration between two existing galleries: Madragoa in Lisbon and Dawid Radziszewski Gallery in Warsaw. This joint initiative opens on March 26, 2026, at a location on Via Gustavo Modena. The space occupies a Liberty-style building from 1919, featuring wrought iron details and soft architectural lines, accessible through a courtyard. The gallery directors, Matteo Consonni and Dawid Radziszewski, manage a program across the three locations involving approximately twenty-five artists. The Milan opening does not alter their established artistic direction but provides a new presentation platform. The inaugural exhibition features South African artist Buhlebezwe Siwani (born 1987 in Johannesburg) with her work 'uYana umhlaba,' marking her Italian debut. The title translates to 'rain of earth' or 'tears of the earth.' Siwani's mixed-media paintings incorporate materials like gold, resin, water, fabrics, and Sunlight green soap—a common household item in rural South Africa that she transforms into a stable, encrusted artistic medium. Her practice is informed by her role as a sangoma, a traditional Zulu healer, engaging with ancestral communication through herbs, rituals, and trance states. The works explore themes of physicality, instability, and landscapes, with sewn fabrics suggesting wounds or boundaries. Alongside this solo presentation, a permanent display features works from other gallery artists. The expansion reflects the growing centrality of Lisbon and Warsaw as production hubs in recent years, with the galleries supporting artists beyond local contexts.
