Collector-Founded Private Museums Expand in Austin, Venice, Arles, Aspen, and Katonah
Globally, a surge of exhibition spaces established by collectors is emerging. In September, René Campos and curator Sacha Zerbib launched Ostillo in Austin, Texas, debuting with the exhibition "Masquerade," which includes 14 pieces from Campos's collection, featuring works by Kader Attia and Thomas Schütte's bronze sculpture Fratelli (2012). Meanwhile, in April, Dries Van Noten and Patrick Vangheluwe inaugurated Fondazione Dries Van Noten in Venice, presenting "The Only True Protest Is Beauty." Additionally, Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo opened a Venice location in May. This summer, Jean-Marc Bustamante unveiled Fonds Bustamante in Arles, showcasing "En Miroirs" until October. Jorge M. Pérez is also planning a sculpture park near Aspen, set for summer 2027. Lastly, Becky Gochman is set to open Branchline in Katonah in November, featuring "Line Break."
