Claudette Reopens in NYC with New Design and Provençal Menu
Claudette, a beloved bistro in New York's Greenwich Village, has reopened after nearly 20 months of repairs. Originally opened in 2014 by Carlos Suarez's Casa Nela group, it closed in 2024 due to structural issues in its landmark building. The redesign, led by Suarez, features tobacco-hued banquettes and oak accents. The menu shifts from North African to Provençal cuisine, overseen by Portuguese chef Igor Almeida Cabral, who worked under Alain Ducasse. Classics include moules gratinées, rabbit rillettes, and bourride. The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday–Saturday, with lunch and brunch coming this summer. The Flamingo Room, a 22-seat private dining room, will reopen in fall.
