Clarence Pitz's New Novel 'D'où personne ne revient' Launches at Quais du Polar Festival

Author Clarence Pitz has released a new novel titled 'D'où personne ne revient' through Belfond publishing. The book was featured at the Quais du Polar festival in Lyon. The narrative centers on a fictional incident involving Belgian tourists who encounter violence on North Sentinel Island in the Bay of Bengal, a protected territory where outsiders face lethal risks. The story follows Marie Seghers, a Belgian heiress who survives an attack that kills her brother, fiancé, and their guide. The plot involves Inspector Narayan, who aims to prosecute Marie as an example for violating protected peoples' rights, and Parvadhî, an Indian lawyer defending her while uncovering connections to an older case known as the 'torch killer.' Pitz, a former director of the Brussels Criminal Records Office for seven years, shifted careers to become a professor of anthropology and art history. She is known for blending culture, anthropology, and suspense in her works. Her previous novels, including 'La Parole du chacal,' 'Ineffaçables,' 'Meurs, mon ange,' and 'Les Enfants du serpent,' were originally published by IFS 'Phénix Noir' in Belgium and later reissued in paperback by Folio Policier. She also writes youth literature published by Auzou. The novel's themes explore cultural clashes and legal dilemmas surrounding isolated indigenous communities.
