Citadelle de Belle-Île to Become Accor's First French Emblems Collection Hotel-Museum
The citadelle Vauban on Belle-Île will be transformed into the first French property of Emblems Collection, the luxury brand of the Accor group, which acquired the site. Opening is scheduled for next year. The hotel component will comprise 90 rooms, suites and apartments, two restaurants, a bar and a wellness area. Beyond hospitality, a museum redesigned entirely by Studio Adrien Gardère will be devoted to the citadelle's history, with a visitor route linking heritage, landscapes, biodiversity and local memory. The ramparts and several outdoor spaces will remain open to the public. Restoration work is being carried out by the agency Valode & Pistre together with Pierre-Antoine Gatier, chief architect of Monuments historiques. In July, the Banque des Territoires joined Accor as a long-term investor, while the "Réinventer le patrimoine" program supports the museum's prefiguration. The article appeared in L'ŒIL n°799 of 1 October 2026 under the title "La citadelle de Belle-Île devient un hôtel-musée."
