Cine Sénior returns with €2 tickets across nearly 400 Spanish cinemas

Spain's Cine Sénior program returns for a fourth edition, offering €2 movie tickets to seniors at nearly 400 cinemas with over 2,800 screens nationwide. The initiative, backed by the Ministry of Culture, aims to promote cultural access and social participation for people over 65. The 2026 budget is €11.15 million, up €3 million from the previous edition, reflecting growing attendance. By December 31, 2025, the program had drawn 1,559,438 spectators, approaching the 2024 total of 1,690,821. Projections suggest it will reach 3 million viewers once data from January to June 2026 is included. Spanish films have been particularly popular, with eight of the top ten most-watched titles being national productions, including the top three. The program also supports Spanish producers, distributors, and creators by boosting domestic film consumption. Screenings will continue on Tuesdays for the next twelve months.
