Christie's to Auction Bill Blass Collection During New York Fashion Week

Christie's has announced an auction and exhibition titled 'Bill Blass: American Elegance' to coincide with New York Fashion Week this September. The event celebrates the legacy of American fashion designer Bill Blass, offering collectors and enthusiasts a chance to view and bid on vintage pieces, sketches, and letters that defined modern American style. The auction runs from September 9 to 23, with a preview of select highlights at Christie's New York from September 8 to 13, and a full exhibition at Blass's New York townhouse in midtown Manhattan from September 18 to 22. Peter Som, a former Creative Director of Bill Blass and curatorial consultant for the project, noted that Blass's decades of design, from the late 1950s through the end of the century, were influential. The event highlights Blass's enduring impact on fashion and his role in shaping American elegance.
