Chinese Tech Companies Expand AI Hiring Initiatives During International Competition for Specialists

Major Chinese technology corporations Xiaomi and Alibaba Group Holding have initiated significant recruitment efforts focused on artificial intelligence talent. These campaigns occur within a context of intense global competition for professionals skilled in AI development. Xiaomi's founder and CEO Lei Jun announced via Weibo that the company's worldwide hiring initiative seeks experienced industry experts, recent graduates, and interns. The smartphone manufacturer has posted over 200 available positions across multiple Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Nanjing. Separately, Alibaba revealed plans to introduce seven new categories of AI-focused roles for its campus recruitment program this year, with specific emphasis on agentic AI positions. Currently, AI-related openings constitute more than 80% of Alibaba's available jobs, a notable increase from approximately 60% during the previous autumn recruitment period. These opportunities span 16 different business divisions within Alibaba, encompassing areas such as cloud computing and semiconductor design. Both companies are strategically repositioning themselves with greater emphasis on artificial intelligence technologies amid evolving market conditions in their core business sectors.
