Chinese BCI Firms Arfysica and Neuracle Eye IPOs on Star Market

Arfysica and Neuracle, two Chinese companies specializing in brain-computer interfaces (BCIs), are gearing up for initial public offerings (IPOs) on the STAR Market, akin to China's Nasdaq, fueled by strong investor enthusiasm. A Morgan Stanley analyst notes that this marks the 'early stage of a multi-year IPO upcycle' for the industry. BCI technology seeks to allow brain signals to operate devices like computers and robotic limbs, a venture also explored by Elon Musk's Neuralink. Founded in 2015, Arfysica has a registered capital of 100 million yuan (US$15 million) and is led by Wang Wei, who holds a 51% stake. Wang, who earned her PhD in biomedical engineering from the University of Southampton in 2006, previously worked at Siemens Healthcare. In February, Arfysica secured an undisclosed sum in financing, following a January round that raised 160 million yuan from various investors, including the National SME Development Fund. Neuracle is also pursuing a listing on the STAR Market, reflecting the increasing interest in BCI technology's applications in medicine and rehabilitation.
