Children's wind-borne artworks inspired by Susumu Shingu take over major sites across France

In 2026, a vibrant array of banners known as Genki-nobori will adorn courtyards, parks, vineyards, and coastal areas throughout France. Created by approximately 100 young individuals alongside professional artists from La Source Garouste, a French nonprofit dedicated to aiding children facing social, educational, or familial challenges, the project features 100 unique banners. These artworks, which combine drawing, painting, and writing, will be animated by the wind as large-scale public displays. The initiative will showcase at various notable cultural and heritage sites, starting with events in Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Paris, then moving to Château La Coste in Provence, Domaine de Villarceaux in the French Vexin, and the beachfront at Dinard. The Genki-nobori concept was inspired by the tragic 2011 Tōhoku earthquake, conceived by Shingu.
