Chicago Spring Exhibitions Showcase Dabin Ahn's Grief Paintings, Samaras Retrospective, and Latin American Dispossession
Dabin Ahn's latest series of paintings and video installations, created during his father's last weeks, is currently showcased at Document in Chicago until June 6. A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Korean artist delves into themes of memory through fragmented canvases. Prior to this exhibition, he held a solo show at François Ghebaly in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Lucas Samaras's retrospective featuring altered Polaroid self-portraits is on view at the Art Institute of Chicago until July 20. The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is displaying 'Dancing the Revolution: From Dancehall to Reggaetón' from April 14 to September 20, highlighting over 35 artists. Additionally, 'MoCP at Fifty' at the Museum of Contemporary Photography runs until May 16, and Bill Brady's sculptures are exhibited at Intuit Art Museum from April 9 to October 4. Wrightwood 659 will host 'Dispossessions in the Americas' from April 17 to July 18.
