Cheshire Architects Completes Waiheke Island Residence in New Zealand
Cheshire Architects has designed a residential structure on Waiheke Island in New Zealand, completed in 2020. The project, known as Waiheke House, is situated on the easternmost part of the island along a ridgeline. With a total area of 40,000 square meters, the building was constructed by Lindesay Construction, while landscape design was handled by URBANite. Photography for the project was executed by Sam Hartnett. The architectural concept emphasizes contrasts between lightness and solidity, as well as exposure and retreat, creating a sense of permanence within a dynamic natural setting. The project was curated by Miwa Negoro. This residence represents a significant architectural contribution to the region, blending contemporary design with the island's landscape.
