Chanel Extends M+ Partnership, Backing New "Pioneering Visions" Series Through 2027

institutional · 2026-10-22

On October 21, the Hong Kong museum announced a three-year extension of its lead partnership with Chanel, which originally commenced in 2023. The French luxury brand will be central to "Pioneering Visions," a long-term initiative featuring exhibitions, public programs, and collection-based activities highlighting artists like Kimsooja, Duan Jianyu, Cao Fei, and Yu Ji. Sarah Sze's solo exhibition "Centrifuge" is set to debut in the Focus Gallery in February 2027, focusing on innovative perspectives and transformative practices by artists from Asia and beyond. Chanel's support for M+ began before the 2023 partnership, including backing for the Chanel Culture Fund and funding Mark Cousins's 14-hour documentary project Women Make Film in 2022. Museum director Suhanya Raffel remarked that the collaboration aims to enhance access to underrepresented narratives of significant contemporary artists, fostering engagement and discovery for audiences both locally and globally.
