CentroCentro Announces 2026 Exhibition Programme with Avelino Sala and María Lara

CentroCentro in Madrid has unveiled its exhibition programme for the second half of 2026, featuring two major institutional shows. 'The Tempest (La tempestad)' will be the first monographic exhibition in Madrid dedicated to Spanish artist Avelino Sala (born 1972, Gijón), known for using art as a vehicle for resistance. The show includes ten installations, most created specifically for the venue, exploring power, memory, and contemporary conflicts. It is curated by Semíramis González and co-produced with LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón. The second exhibition, 'The Slowness of Light (La lentitud de la luz)', is María Lara's (born 1940, Loja, Granada) first institutional show in Madrid. Lara, long regarded as a 'secret painter', will present nearly 40 paintings and drawings.
