Centro de Arte La Regenta Announces 2026 International Artist Residency Program
The Centro de Arte La Regenta has launched its international artist residency program for 2026, seeking to foster contemporary artistic creation and facilitate encounters between creators from diverse backgrounds. Applications are open to artists of any discipline or nationality over 18 years old who reside outside Gran Canaria and possess basic Spanish language skills. The residency will run from May 11 to July 6, 2026, followed by an exhibition from July 3 to September 5, 2026 in the center's 'Espacio Otros Formatos' gallery. Selected artists will receive a comprehensive package including €1,800 in fees, €1,000 for living expenses, up to €400 for travel, and €1,000 for production costs. The center will provide a 25-square-meter studio, residential accommodation with bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, access to documentation resources, and conceptual support. Proposals must address themes of city, community, territory and context, with selection criteria emphasizing project originality (30%), thematic coherence (40%), feasibility (20%), and artistic trajectory (10%). Applications must be submitted online via the center's website by April 10, 2026, including a detailed project description of 800-1200 words, supporting materials, and required documentation. A maximum of three projects will be selected, with two placed on reserve.
