Central Park Conservancy Hosts Starry Juneteenth Dinner at Seneca Village

On the night before Juneteenth, the Central Park Conservancy organized a private dinner at Summit Rock, the location of Seneca Village, a historically Black community that was displaced in 1857 for the park’s development. Co-hosted by stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, filmmaker and cultural preservationist Peggy King Jorde of King Jorde Culturals, and landscape architect Sarah Zewde of Studio Zewde, the event attracted notable guests including actors Taylour Paige and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, playwright Jeremy O. Harris, and writer Camille Okhio. The gathering aimed to raise awareness about the Conservancy's efforts to honor Seneca Village’s heritage, with catering from Bronx-based Ghetto Gastro and cocktails crafted by Anthony Bates from Ralph Lauren's Polo Bar.
