Centennial Exhibition Celebrates 100 Years of Photobooth History in London

The Photographers' Gallery in London presents 'Strike a Pose! 100 Years of the Photobooth,' an archival exhibition marking the centenary of the automated photo booth. Curated by art historian Taous Dahmani in collaboration with AUTOFOTO, the display features historical materials from collector Raynal Pellicer, including vintage portrait strips, advertisements, and ephemera from the 1920s to 1960s. The exhibition runs from October 10, 2025, to February 22, 2026, exploring how photobooths provided accessible, private spaces for self-expression and influenced photographic culture, with noted users including Andy Warhol and John Lennon. A functional 1960s analogue booth allows visitors to create their own images.
