Centenary of Ingeborg Bachmann: A Guide to Her Works in Spanish
As we mark the 100th anniversary of Ingeborg Bachmann's birth (Klagenfurt, 1926 – Rome, 1973), there is a noticeable resurgence in the publication of her works in Spanish. A prominent figure in post-war German literature, Elfriede Jelinek referred to her as "the greatest poet Austria has produced after 1945." In 2018, Tresmolins published a complete collection of her poetry, translated by Cecilia Dreymüller. During her lifetime, only "Malina" (1971) saw publication, with translations by Juan José del Solar and Isabel Hernández (Nórdica, 2026). Her posthumous works include "The Franza Case" and "Requiem for Fanny Goldmann" (Akal). Various publishers have released her essays and correspondence, while Tresmolins has compiled her radio plays. Adaptations of her work include "Malina" (1991) and "Journey into the Desert" (2023).
