Celine and Reebok Unveil Full Collaboration on Reebok Freestyle Lo 1982
Celine has officially unveiled its partnership with Reebok, transforming the classic Reebok Freestyle Lo sneaker from 1982. This collaboration was initially hinted at during Michael Rider's first standalone menswear presentation for Celine, held at the Tennis Club de Paris in June, as part of Paris Fashion Week Men's. Washington, D.C.-native Rider characterizes the sneakers as embodying 'heritage two ways... Paris street, American movement,' merging American preppy style with a Parisian touch. Crafted from soft, flexible leather that offers a vintage vibe, the shoe is available in eight colors: 'Peanut', 'Oxblood', 'Dark Brown', 'Fluo Red', 'Butter', along with traditional white, black, and beige. Originally created by Angel Martinez in 1982 for women during the aerobics trend, the Freestyle Lo became a popular unisex option and later developed into the Freestyle Hi featuring two Velcro straps. The collection will be available starting September 12 at select global locations, including New York Soho, Tokyo Omotesando, Beverly Hills Rodeo Drive, and others, following a launch event at New York Fashion Week. Rider highlights the interplay between tradition and progression, remarking, 'The past, and the here and now.'
