Cat Johnston's Folkloric Puppets Featured in Hastings Exhibition and New Film Projects

London-based illustrator and model maker Cat Johnston creates expressive sculptures and puppets inspired by childhood memories, folk art, and nature. Her recent work includes a series of characters representing sunburn, hay fever, and insomnia, depicted as the sun, flowers, and moon. Johnston recently completed her first short film, 'The Wickywock and the Jubjub Berry,' in collaboration with stop-motion animator Joseph Wallace. She will present a solo exhibition at The Crown pub in Hastings during the first weekend of May, coinciding with the Hastings Traditional Jack in the Green pagan festival. Johnston has also joined Passion Pictures as a director and is developing animated series and another short film combining live-action puppetry and stop-motion animation.
