Castle Howard Exhibition Honors Architect John Vanbrugh on 300th Anniversary
Castle Howard is presenting 'Staging the Baroque: Vanbrugh at Castle Howard,' an exhibition commemorating the 300th anniversary of architect Sir John Vanbrugh's death. Opening on March 26, 2026, the display features previously unseen letters by Vanbrugh and explores his collaboration with Charles Howard, 3rd Earl of Carlisle, which led to the creation of the iconic stately home. Curated by architect Roz Barr, the exhibition includes historical documents, architectural models, and a new film by Thomas Adank. Additional programming includes an installation by Es Devlin in Vanbrugh's Temple of the Four Winds and family activities. The exhibition runs through October 31, 2026, with entry included in house admission.
