Casa Paradiso in Mérida Showcases Contemporary Architecture on Narrow Historic Lot

Casa Paradiso, a residential project in Mérida's historic center designed by Binomio Taller, transforms a narrow 3.3-meter-wide lot through restoration and contemporary architecture. The project, featured in Glocal Design Magazine's 87th edition highlighting 2025 Mexican architecture, integrates traditional Yucatecan elements like central patios for natural light and ventilation. It uses regional materials such as Yucatán travertine marble and exposed concrete while adhering to INAH conservation regulations. The design addresses spatial constraints by creating intimate living areas with sensory features including a pigmented concrete wall and small pool. This approach reflects contemporary design as an ethical and cultural stance, balancing artisanal and modern elements.
