Casa Cardona: A Home Marked by Time in San Luis Potosí

Casa Cardona, designed by Sensacional Dinámica Mexicana and Sergio Padilla Contreras in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, is a residence conceived for three generations—a grandmother, mother, and son. The house draws its identity from daily life, with light, color, and vegetation revealing the passage of time. Its walls are tinted with the color of the tuna cardona fruit, connecting the home to the local landscape and shifting hues with sunlight. An indoor tree brings foliage, scent, and shade into the living room, allowing natural transformations to be observed from within. The layout respects each inhabitant's rhythm, with spaces tailored to age and routine, while also fostering communal gathering. The project emphasizes often-overlooked elements like small patios, modest rooms, and transitional light, elevating simple acts such as resting or watching the sun's path. This house is featured in the 89th edition of Glocal Design Magazine, titled "Visionarias del espacio," which showcases 15 female architects and interior designers expanding the conversation on architecture, design, and interiorism in Mexico. The issue includes two collectible covers by Prince Láuder and Jimena Estíbaliz.
