Caroline Davis, Qasim Naqvi and Grey Mcmurray Release Trio Album "Trappings of Sleep" on Red Hook Records

publication · 2026-10-23

"Trappings of Sleep," a nine-track album, has been released by saxophonist Caroline Davis, guitarist Grey Mcmurray, and drummer Qasim Naqvi under Red Hook Records. Their musical partnership originated from a bar performance in Brooklyn and developed further during a 2025 concert at Saint Peter's Church. After witnessing their set, producer Sun Chung encouraged them to record an album. Each artist contributed individually prior to group rehearsals, fostering a collaborative composition approach. Mcmurray drew the album title from a memory of sleep talking. According to Tyran Grillo's liner notes, the album represents an introspective exploration of dreams. Davis, a Guggenheim Fellow in 2025, has released eight albums; Mcmurray made his solo debut in 2019; Naqvi has commissioned pieces from numerous orchestras.
