Carlos Antonio Castro Lobato's Italian Solo Exhibition 'Tobillo Torcido' at terzospazio

Carlos Antonio Castro Lobato presents his first Italian solo exhibition, 'Tobillo Torcido (Caviglia storta)', at terzospazio zolforosso in Venice from April 1 to April 29, 2026. Curated by Giulia Mariachiara Galiano, the show features three works exploring bodily tension and transformation through autobiographical and collective reflection. The exhibition includes the 2024 film 'Solo', derived from the artist's private archive, depicting childhood medical scenes with maternal surveillance. 'Estudio de un Almacén' (2026) features plastic sheets soaked in coffee and ink, creating layered, wounded surfaces that resemble abandoned bodies or ancient parchments. Another work, 'Memorias Ferales' (2024), continues the exploration of bodily memory and domestication. The exhibition is part of the 'Farsi Nebula' series examining institutional devices and invisible hierarchies. Castro Lobato's practice is rooted in bodily experience developed after moving from Mexico City to Spain and then Venice, emphasizing opacity, resistance, and transformation rather than resolution. The title's twisted ankle metaphor invites finding new support and repositioning, acknowledging all equilibrium as temporary.
