Cambi Casa d’Aste auctions collections from historic Italian residences

Cambi Casa d’Aste will hold 'Dimore Italiane,' an auction dedicated to collections from prestigious Italian historic residences, on June 10 at Castello Mackenzie in Genoa. The sale features antique furniture, sculptures, paintings, clocks, carpets, porcelain, chandeliers, and a rare fan collection. The auction is split into two sessions: lots 1–216 at 10:00 AM and lots 217–434 at 3:00 PM. Highlights include a lot from an Emilian collection: an 18th-century gilded miniature armchair (estimate €1,000–1,500); from a noble villa in the Florentine hills: neoclassical consoles, marble busts, bronzes, a gilded center table (lot 264, estimate €3,000–4,000), and a late Renaissance support adapted into a billiard table (lot 225, estimate €4,000–5,000). The catalog's focus is a group of lots from Palazzo Colonna all'Ara Coeli in Rome. The top lot is a Flemish tapestry made in Brussels around the mid-16th century, marked 'B.B.,' designed by Pieter Coecke van Aelst and likely woven under Jan Van der Vyst, estimated at €180,000–220,000. Other lots from the same collection include a pair of Renaissance cassapanca chests from the Veneto or Emilia region (lot 270, estimate €25,000–30,000) and a Roman Baroque nocturnal clock (lot 276, estimate €15,000–18,000). Also notable is lot 307, a micromosaic depicting St. Peter's Square made in Rome in the second half of the 19th century, attributed to Cesare Roccheggiani's circle, estimated at €15,000–20,000.
