Cairns Indigenous Art Fair Mourns Loss of First Nations Artist Simone Arnol
The Cairns Indigenous Art Fair has announced the death of Simone Arnol, a Gunggandji artist and designer from Yarrabah, who died this month after battling ovarian cancer. Arnol was known for her multidisciplinary work in painting, photography, textiles, and fashion, often using sustainable materials and processes that reflected her cultural values. She previously served as Manager of Yarrabah Art Centre and, with her partner Bernard Singleton, helped develop CIAF's fashion program.
