Cahiers d’art Centenary Celebrated Across Museums from New York to Vézelay

Cahiers d’art, the pioneering magazine established by Christian Zervos in 1926, is celebrating its centenary with a series of exhibitions at prominent venues such as MoMA New York, the Guggenheim Venice, the Benaki Museum Athens, the Reina Sofía Madrid, Luma Arles, and the Musée Départemental d’Art Moderne (MDAM) in Vézelay, home to the Zervos collection. This milestone is being coordinated by Cécile Debray, president of the Musée Picasso, alongside curator Daniel Birnbaum. Between 1926 and 1960, Cahiers d’art released 97 issues that became instrumental in showcasing European modernism, highlighting artists like Picasso and Matisse. After halting publication in 1960, the magazine was revived in 2012 by collector Staffan Ahrenberg. The exhibition 'Modernité & archaïsme – 100 ans de Cahiers d’art' is currently on display at MDAM.
