Bud Spencer Museum in Berlin to Close at End of Year

The Bud Spencer Museum in Berlin will close permanently on December 23, with operations ending by December 31, the operators announced. Since its opening in June 2021, the museum has displayed original costumes and film props from the movies of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill, along with a life-size Bud Spencer statue. The closure was attributed to construction work in front of the museum that significantly reduced visitor numbers and revenues. Although the construction, which lasted over a year, was completed in the summer, the expected economic recovery did not materialize. The operators also cited burdens from official regulations and a lack of support from cultural funding. No statement from the relevant authority was available initially. It remains unclear whether the museum will be permanently closed or possibly continued at another location. In its first two and a half years, the museum reportedly welcomed over 250,000 visitors. A crowdfunding campaign was launched one year after opening to help cover costs.
