British Museum Sleepover: An Insiders' Night Among Antiquities

The British Museum in London offers overnight 'Sleepovers' from October to March and July, with themed activities. Journalist Sarah Belmont attended a sleepover focused on Hawaii. The event, limited to 300 participants, began with a check-in at the Egyptian antiquities gallery. Activities included a printing workshop by artist Lily Mitchell, a theatrical performance by a Norwegian fur trader, storytelling by Nell Phoenix, and board games. Participants slept in the museum galleries; Belmont slept near a Sekhmet statue. The night ended with breakfast in the Great Court and a visit to the exhibition 'Hawaii: A Kingdom Crossing Oceans.' The museum partners with Eurostar for transport.
