Brad Rimmer's Wheatbelt Trilogy Exhibition at Fremantle Arts Centre

Photographer Brad Rimmer presents a retrospective exhibition titled 'Loom of the Land' at Fremantle Arts Centre in Western Australia. The show runs from February 7 to April 19, 2026. Rimmer, currently residing in Fremantle, originally hails from the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia. The exhibition brings together three interconnected series created over two decades: 'Silence' from 2009, 'Nature Boy' from 2019, and 'Nowhere Near' from 2023. These works were produced during Rimmer's repeated visits to the rural landscapes where he spent his childhood. The photographs explore how both shared historical narratives and individual recollections become embedded within the terrain. For this presentation, Rimmer has expanded beyond still photography for the first time by incorporating two newly commissioned musical performances. These audio-visual pieces were specifically created and recorded to complement the photographic images. One featured work is 'Sharon, Kellerberrin, Winter' from 2009, measuring 75 by 75 centimeters, which belongs to the 'Silence' series. The exhibition is organized with support from the artist and the hosting institution.
