BPER Banca opens two new cultural hubs in Ferrara and L'Aquila
BPER Banca will open two new cultural hubs in Palazzo Farinosi-Branconio in L'Aquila and Palazzo Barbantini-Koch in Ferrara in September and October 2026 respectively. These join the existing La Galleria BPER in Modena, which opened in 2017. The L'Aquila palace, restored after the 2009 earthquake, dates to the 15th century and will display works by Luca Giordano, Salvator Rosa, Cola dell'Amatrice, and the Maestro dei Polittici Crivelleschi, focusing on connections between L'Aquila and central-southern Italy. The Ferrara palace, built in the early 20th century for the Cassa di Risparmio di Ferrara, will feature works by Tiziano, Guercino, De Pisis, and Previati, with an inaugural exhibition on transience in Italian painting from the 19th to early 20th century. BPER's cultural activities also extend to Genoa, Milan, Brescia, Sondrio, Sassari, and Naples. The bank's historical archive, containing 7,000 archival units, is being digitized since 2022 in collaboration with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia's Digital Humanities department and is accessible via the Lodovico digital library.
