Boy George Auctions 350+ Personal Items from 45 Years of Style History

Boy George, born George O'Dowd, is auctioning over 350 items from his personal collection through Julien's Auctions in a sale titled Bold Luxury: Boy George Edit. The collection spans 45 years and includes clothing, artwork, dolls, posters, and framed record sales awards. Highlights include a plaid suit his mother made for his 1979 BBC appearance on Something Else, a black leather jacket from the same year worn at the Blitz nightclub, Foundry trousers from 1980 by Sue Clowes, and a performance-worn ensemble from the 1983-1984 Colour By Numbers tour expected to fetch $50,000-$100,000. Other notable items include a 'pearly king' cap by John Galliano, a ruffle blouse by Vivienne Westwood, and hats by Philip Treacy. The live auction takes place on July 14 at New York City's Soho Grand Hotel, with online bidding open now. Proceeds benefit the nonprofit MusiCares, which supports music industry professionals in need. Boy George, who turned 65 on June 14, is also touring with Culture Club later this year alongside ABC and Haircut 100. Recently, the band released an AI-assisted version of 'Karma Chameleon' through Artists Included, co-founded by manager Paul 'PK' Kemsley and Jeremy Rosen, and is reimagining other recordings like 'It's a Miracle' and 'Do You Really Want to Hurt Me' using the technology.
