Book Reveals Why Only 65% of Heterosexual Women Orgasm

A new book by British sexual historian Dr. Kate Lister, titled "Flick – The Story of Female Pleasure," explores the historical suppression of female pleasure. Lister highlights that Hildegard von Bingen, a 12th-century nun, was the first to describe the female orgasm from a medical perspective, viewing it as something to be enjoyed equally by men and women. Despite this early understanding, contemporary statistics show that only 65% of heterosexual women experience orgasm. Lister argues that this disparity is rooted in centuries of societal control and invisibility of female desire. The book, not yet published in Germany, aims to uncover the historical forces that have shaped current attitudes toward female sexuality.
