Bode Launches Semiquincentennial Collection Celebrating Vintage Americana

Emily Adams Bode Aujla has designed a high summer 2026 capsule collection for Bode, commemorating the forthcoming American Semiquincentennial. Set to debut on June 26, this collection is inspired by vintage costumes, especially those crafted for theatrical shows, parades, and centennial festivities from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Bode Aujla cherishes these outfits, often wearing them with her family during Memorial Day and the Fourth of July. Highlights include a 1776 graphic tee influenced by 1970s fashion, pajama pants reminiscent of 1930s star-patterned bunting, satin gym shorts and track pants reflecting mid-century styles, and a Lincoln's Birthplace tee inspired by a 1970s souvenir shirt adorned with beadwork. Additionally, the Lincoln lantern tee showcases "Old Abe, Prince of Rails," alluding to Abraham Lincoln's youth in fence rail splitting, while the Music of 1776 tee features designs from antique lanterns used in Lincoln's 1860s campaign parades. Bode Aujla seeks to revive lost craftsmanship qualities, producing future collectibles for both holidays and everyday wear. She recently discovered a handmade child's top from the 1940s embellished with milliner flowers, along with a photo of a girl dancing in the outfit.
