Blaanc Architects Rehabilitate 1950s Lisbon Residence with Contemporary Modernist Approach

The architectural firm Blaanc, led by Ana Morgado and Carmo Caldeira, completed a residential renovation project in Lisbon in 2020. Located within a mid-century building, the 154-square-meter intervention spans two floors and was curated by Susanna Moreira. Rather than simply restoring the existing structure, the design team aimed to reinterpret modernist principles for contemporary living while maintaining respect for the original architectural heritage. The project involved updating the space to meet modern functional needs while preserving its historical character. Photography was handled by Luis Nobre Guedes, and materials were sourced from manufacturers including Anicolor, Azulcer, BRUMA, FENESTEVES, and RMC.
